Christmas 2008

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! For those of you who are in "cold country" yikes! We hope you are staying as warm as possible, we were FREEZING here, it got into the low 30's ;) Micah's holiday began early in the week by spending time with his cousin Philip who is from St. Louis! They got to play together, well they played by themselves, they just sat next to each other. If they weren't playing with their own toy they were trying to take each others away...Micah was doing a lot of the taking! We spent Christmas Eve with the Tiggas side of the family with a huge breakfast and a lazy movie day. Christmas day was spent with the Machain family (all 50+ of us) :) By the time Christmas day came around Micah wasn't the happiest of all boys, he was a little on the tired-out side (who am I kidding he was exhausted and cranky)! He is getting better at opening presents, he even played with the actual toys not just the box they came in. His favorite toy this go

Batter up!

So clearly the bat is way too big for him right now…well, and it’s pink! Every chance he gets he loves swinging it around, or just walking with it as if it were guiding him. So it looks like he will be a Major Leaguer or a professional blind man…that can see ;) Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Which way does your ladder face?

So here is the deal, we had a business lunch yesterday with a really cool entrepreneur who goes through life trying to soak in as much "good truth" as possible. Matt and I were able to give him some insight on how we go through our daily lives trying to improve our marriage, our parenting and of course increasing the household income (who isn't trying to increase this one?) and he was able to share his success' with us...and yes this was a business meeting :) Anyway, in the meeting he said something that has embedded itself in my brain and won't detach until I talk about it. Remember when I said this blog thing is sometimes better than talking to actual people...case and point... here we go... "Before you judge people make sure that your ladder is horizontal". Juvenile, right? The old "Don't judge a book by its cover" and "Before you judge someone, take a walk in their shoes" comes to mind when I think of this. But this is differe

Christmas Picture Mission...where's the snow?

We decided that going up to Mt. Lemmon would be great for this year's Christmas photo (not that we have ever done one). I was thinking a nice mountain picture with snow behind us, I almost was thinking matching sweaters, then I slapped myself! We thought it would be fun for Shana and Keanna to join us, so we packed up the car with enough jackets to cloth us twice over, along with hats and gloves to tote. We wanted to be prepared for the cold mountain and all the snow we would find. As we traveled up and up the mountain we kept asking ourselves "where's the snow" and we said it as if we were wondering where the beef was. HAHA...silly us, we forgot we live in Tucson, ARIZONA! We got up to the mountain in 30 min (which begs the question...why would 30 min. up from warm sunny Tucson make a HUGE difference in the weather?) Well we got up to the mountain and we were sadly, but not surprisingly disappointed that the white fluffy stuff isn't to come for a few more weeks,

That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

He did it, the little man walks! Well come on it's not a leap but it's defiantly walking. This is how it went: On the phone... Matt: Hunny he took two steps Kandice: WHAT?!?!! Matt: He just took two steps by himself Kandice: MATT you better tell him to stop until I get there, ARE YOU RECORDING THIS?? Matt: HAHA this is great he just did it again, but it was like 6 steps this time! Kandice: DON'T LET HIM DO IT AGAIN UNTIL I GET THERE! Yes, sadly that was me telling Matt to stop the growing and learning process until I can see it. But don't we all want to see our own creations (whatever they may be) take the first step? Well that was about a week ago and on Thanksgiving he learned to stand by himself, which was a huge task. He figured out that his head (which is in the upper 99% percentile) was too large and heavy to pick up so he in essence looked like a stink bug trying to pick himself up. Then he discovered the squat method. And now we have lift off! Cross your fingers
