Summer Lovin'

Sooooo THIS is what summer is all about when you have a family! If you would have asked me in April what our summer looked like, I would probably have told you that we MAY be going to San Diego but other than that we will probably just be hanging at home, boy was I ever wrong!

We did it again; we packed our bags and ran far, far away from this heat…like North Dakota and Minnesota far!  As soon as we got back from San Diego Matt didn’t let me even get the bags unpacked before he asked if I wanted to go to the lake, and not just the lake that’s a few hours from home, the one that’s a 3 hour and 15 min plane ride from home. It wasn’t hard to say yes as he was smart enough to ask me when the temp spiked to 105 over here.

Our good friend and co-worker Tracy had been planning on heading home to North Dakota for a mini vacation, and after a 5 min conversation about boating Matt was hooked (pun sooo intended).  Matt and Tracy started the trip a few days before the kids and me, in North Dakota.  They played some golf Matt played some baseball and had a fun boy’s weekend.  The kids and I joined them a few days later in Minnesota on Little Pine Lake located in the little town of Perham (home of Tuffy dog food and Turtle fest).  The lake house belongs to our friend Elissa’s family and they were generous enough to let us crash it for an entire week! The week was filled with fishing, swimming, boating, turtle races, sun, fun and RELAXATION!

We ended the trip back in North Dakota where Tracy showed us his digs growing up in Jamestown and every single day was spent outside playing from dusk to dawn, and right now that means 6am to 10pm!
Here are some pictures from the trip!

Hello & Goodbye to Sum•mer

sum·mer 1 ˈsəmər/ noun 1 .  the warmest season of the year, in the northern hemisphere from June to August and in the southern hemisphere from December to February. I just wanted to give myself a second to really think about this thing called summer. Anyone else think this definition is just a little bit vague? It's that time of year where we get all excited to have ZERO schedule, endless electronics, the chance to travel and cram in all of the fun you planned for all year long. Then when this so called "summer" ends, you feel bamboozled, like someone just waved that 4th of July pie you went to that party to specifically eat, right in front of your face only to look...not eat. Like seriously, it was here, right in front of my face, and now... it's gone. Now, now we pack lunch every night, we get our homework in (which I don't even understand), we figure out which parent is going to be the taxi for the day, we actually have to ...

She Turned 7!

SEVEN, she did it again... who does she think she is trying to get another year older on us. In all seriousness, she is SEVEN. Like, what happened to 5 and 6? Let me tell you what 7 looks like on my little Pripri... Just a few things about this girl 1. Guess who her favorite person is...duh. Micah 2. She is soooo much more compassionate and caring than I could have ever imagined. 3. She might be 7, however her attitude screams teen! She is sensitive but oh so brave and she is never afraid to take on new adventures! 4. Her best friend is still, you guessed it, Maggie. 5. Right now she is playing softball (second season) and is having a ton of fun. Cheerleading is still on her brain, but for now, we will stick with this. 6. When she laughs, you can't help but laugh with her. Her laugh alone will make you light up. 7. Her favorite things include: Unicorns, Bear (her pink one), Unicorns, Mermaids, those fake glasses (see pic below), her American Girl Doll (pic above), Uni...

The Big Apple

{deep breath}… We did it, we made it, and we are still alive to talk about it… We made it to and from New York City with our sanity in hand! Actually we got back on the 11th of October but it has taken me a few weeks to recover from the trip, I needed a little space between me and NYC, and now that I am feeling whole again I am ready to revisit our trip. When Matt and I were invited to my college teammates wedding in NYC there was NO WAY I was missing it. For one, she’s amazing and I was soooo pumped for her, and 2… it’s NYC! My only discrepancy was to take the kids or to leave them. Well when we asked my parents if they would be willing to take them while we were away, it turned into “sure we will watch them… in NYC!” So there it was the making of a weeklong family trip to the big apple. For those of you who know how type “A” I am, I am sure you could imagine how overwhelmed I became in thinking of all the things we were going to do while we visited, so when mom and dad said we...
